The mission of the Milford Sailing Foundation is to educate and promote sailing skills and safety, and to encourage interest in sailing education and competition as well as maritime arts and sciences in the local community with emphasis on youths.
The Milford Sailing Foundation, LTD. was established in 1998 as a philanthropic outreach initiative of Milford Yacht Club Past Commodores, Dick Hovey and Meade Batchelor. They foresaw the club’s future in the development of young sailing enthusiasts. Although closely aligned to Milford Yacht Club, the Milford Sailing Foundation is registered and recognized as an independent non-profit 501(c) (3) charitable foundation with an independent Board of Directors.
Over the years, the Foundation has continually supported Milford’s junior sailing program by obtaining boats and other sailing equipment, sponsoring sailing clinics, volunteering time and effort in managing our annual Opti regatta and other events, providing charter boats and coach boats and performing boat maintenance. The Foundation sponsors juniors in numerous sailing events, including the annual Dick Hovey Regatta and Trophy.
The Milford Yacht Club community is committed to developing a philanthropic ethos that will grow and sustain the Milford Sailing Foundation in me it’s mission to promote sailing, competition , and maritime education. This is accomplished through generous donations from supporters of the Milford Sailing Foundation like you.
