Bruce Kuryla is a life long boater and a product of Milford’s junior sailing program. He is an accomplished offshore racer. Owing much of his expertise to many opportunities sailing around the country growing up, he is anxious to pay it forward by bringing youths and adults out on the water to experience the thrill of sailing.
Bruce is a four term past commodore of Milford Yacht Club and has been in the marine industry for the past thirty years.
John Nevin has enjoyed sailing since 1980. John went out sailing on his first boat, an O’Day Mariner, and has been hooked ever since. He has had many boats over the years: Ranger 22; J-29, Hull #2; Soverel 33; Nonsuch; S2 7; S2 9.1, Hull #1; Nordic Tug. John has also won many races including: Off Soundings; 1994 Soverel 33 North Americans, 2nd Place; 2009 Acura Key West, 1st Place. These days John can be found cruising the high seas on his Nordic Tug.

John Lombard has enjoyed racing one-design sailboats ever since he crewed for his father at the Essex Connecticut Frostbite (winter) series at age seven. As a junior sailor he competed at the US Junior Championships (Bemis Trophy), and as a collegiate sailor he raced on the University of Rhode Island Sailing Team and competed in the US College Team Racing National Championships. John is a 420 North American Champion and a two-time International Star Class 1st District Champion. He also raced Interclub (frostbite) Dinghies many years, twice winning the Manhasset Bay New Year’s Frostbite Regatta and he competed in 11 IC National Dinghy Championships. But most of all John loves teaching others how to sail and race. He spend 7 years coaching Junior sailing at the Cedar Point Yacht Club in Westport CT, the Riverside Yacht Club in Greenwich, CT, the Niantic Bay Yacht Club in Niantic CT, and at the J World Sailing School, in Newport Rhode Island. Today he is busy coaching his daughter who sails an Optimist Dinghy.
